Welcome Back To Shanghai Disneyland! It’s the words that were heard around the world. Shanghai Disneyland. is welcoming guests back to a place of colorful, magical transformation and as the sounds

of Fantasmic filled the air and our favorite character all came out to greet the most anticipated opening, or reopening of all time, one thing was certain, magic was everywhere.

So what does this Welcome Back to Shanghai Disneyland look like and how will this serve as a blueprint for the rest of the Disney Parks. At this time, no one knows when Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Toyko will reopen and what it will look like.

Amid rampant speculation, partially fueled by the fact that FastPass reservations could be made on the My Disney Experience app from July 1 on and that to date, people holding existing reservations for Walt Disney World for June have not yet been canceled there are rumors flying everywhere but the fact at this point, nobody has the answer-yet.

But one thing is certain when the time comes to safely reopen the Disney Parks, the reopening of Shanghai Disneyland will in all likelihood serve as a blueprint as to what we might be seeing in our own futures. With this in mind, here is a closer look as Shanghai Disneyland welcomed back guests today.

Beginning today, May 11, guests at Shanghai Disneyland need to reserve a QR code ticket in advance and bring a government ID, mask, as well as an official Shanghai Health QR Code from the day of the visit. The health QR code is doled out as soon as guests arrive at the park and have their temperatures taken with infrared cameras that appear to be fitted with facial recognition software. The code is a government-backed contact tracing system supplemented by the park’s mandatory ID match between the ticket holder and buyer.

From that point, the reservation code is checked before you head through security ultimately reaching the actual entrance where IDs are taken.  Up until that point, interactions are pretty contact-free, but entrance workers must physically handle/scan IDs.

In terms of park experience, all lines will have marked waiting areas to maintain distances. Though masks must be worn as soon as you hit the health checkpoint, they can be removed when eating. Certain dining tables won’t be available for use to keep distance between guests.

Similarly, on larger rides, there will be a seat between groups while smaller rides will only permit one group per car. Additionally, hand sanitizer stations are placed at ride exits, and contactless payments are encouraged at stores and restaurants.

In addition to the new reservation system, new social distancing markers, and attraction modifications as well as limiting the capacity of Shanghai Disneyland to 30% of the 80,000 guests that it is designed to hold. character meet and greets shows, and parades will look different.

With meet-and-greets temporarily suspended due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, characters will be seen in a special procession called Mickey and Friends Express, which will take place several times daily.

To preserve the story of the park, face characters, such as Disney Princesses, will not wear masks, so they must be kept at a safe distance from guests.

Elsewhere in the park, characters will make appearances in groups throughout the park’s lands to welcome guests back to Shanghai Disneyland.

And now that they’re ready and waiting to welcome back the guest, they’ll be sporting some new colorful outfits reminiscent of spring and summer fun!

Even Duffy, ShellieMay, StellaLou, Gelatoni, and CookieAnn are getting in on the fun!

In the evenings, Enchanted Storybook Castle will come to life with light and music at dusk each day with Evening Magical Moments. While this may not be completely like Disney Parks as they were prior to the months-long shutdown, it’s good to know that the magic is slowly coming back.

The initial park reopening will demonstrate a deliberate approach, drawing on the experience from the successful reopening of Disneytown, Wishing Star Park and Shanghai Disneyland Hotel in early March, and implement enhanced health and safety measures.

Over the days, weeks and months ahead, the world will be watching as the  Shanghai Disneyland once again welcomes people back to the magic and somewhere, in the not too distant future, anxiously await to follow in their footsteps at the most Magical Place on Earth, the Walt Disney World Resort and the Happiest Place on Earth, the Disneyland Resort.

It’s good to know that a dream is a wish your heart makes and dreams can and do come true. But for today, we will all wipe away a happy tear or two, hold our breath and live in the magic that others experienced first hand on the other side of the world. To All That Enter This Happy Place…Welcome Back To Shanghai Disneyland.
