IRISH COUNTY FULL OF GORGEOUS SCENERY IS OFTEN OVERLOOKED BY TOURISTS

There is an underrated Irish county that people say is full of lovely scenery and great things to do. Co Monghan is located in the Ulster province of Ireland, just south of Northern Ireland.

The county is largely overlooked by tourists but those who have visited have had some pretty positive things to say about Co Monaghan. The county tends to be somewhere people travel through rather than travel to.

However, some people think that is a mistake. Among the top-rated things to do in Co Monaghan are Rossmore Forest Park, Monaghan County Museum, Lough Muckno, and the Slibh Beag area.

Co Monaghan provides a great off-the-beaten-track experience for tourists who are looking to experience a different side of Ireland. A few people have pointed out what makes the county attractive for visitors.

A Reddit thread asking which Irish counties are underrated for tourism received a few answers with a number of them pointing towards Monaghan. One user, going by the username of Pas-possible, wrote at length about why Co Monaghan is the answer.

They commented: "Within the county itself you have Brehon Brewery in Kilanny, Pat Kavanagh Centre in Inniskeen along with the quading centre. Carrickmacross has the famous lace workshop along with a gin distillery."

They continued: "Carrickmacross Lace gained worldwide repute as a style adored by royalty, including Queen Victoria, Princess Diana and, most recently, the Duchess of Cambridge.

"Castleblayney has a great outdoor adventure centre at Muckno along with great fishing.

"In Knockatallon there is another outdoor adventure centre with biking over the Sliabh beach mountains and other walks with activities for kids too.
